Hastings Beatles Day

www.hastingsbeatlesday.org.uk

The Blue Devils have been a consistent attraction at this event for the last few years. There have been a few lineup changes, with Robert Studholme covering guitar on last years show, Steve Thorneycroft (original Devils drummer) on many of the shows, other musicians added to the lineup, plus a few with a different band name.

The event has been held in different venues in the past, notably the Marina Pavilion, Hastings, Hastings Pier, and its current home, The White Rock Theatre, Hastings. The event is staged for Macmillan cancer care, (www.macmillan.org.uk) and features a complete day of Beatles music from many varied musicians and artists. This years event raised over £14,000, so was well worth the effort!

In 2010 the Devs will hopefully be appearing with some of the Cranbrook Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Michael Robertson, to play some Beatles songs that (strangely enough!!) need an orchestra! Information and photos regarding Hastings Beatles day in general can be found at www.hastingsbeatlesday/.org.uk

Although not viewed by some fans as our "proper" type of music, the Devs are all big Beatles fans, and their songs, as many musicians have discovered, are great to play, and can be as greasy and funky as many American 1950's R&B hits, and as smooth as Matt Monroe! Anyway,it's fair to say that there are probably still bands today that are only trying to be The Beatles, and understandably so, as they were one of the greatest bands of all time!

All the Beatles songs The Devils cover will eventually be appearing on our website, as we are currently recording our entire Beatles catalogue as featured over the various years we've played. When complete, these tracks can be downloaded, the proceeds going to Macmillan.

Bring on Bob Dylan Day....
